I did this drawing the day the movie was released. Now, let me say, I’m not obsessed with it, nor did I really grow up with it, I did remember the pictures as a child flipping through books, and always drawing a lot. I’m 30, and since a child, I’d always draw things up til 17, then I got into music production and hiphop, and stopped drawing.

This was more a personal work to reference an image, and draw it, as I’ve been trying to draw more and implement mixed media into my computer designs, keeping the hand drawn aesthetic. My friends were all dressing in different hats or making their own crowns… I decided to draw this directly to a t-shirt.

I will say, I did watch the movie twice, 2nd time in IMAX with some other friends, but I really enjoyed the movie and it’s many underlying messages about not being able to please everyone, and self identity and loving what you already have that you may have taken for granted.
