At times I forget to mention Reid Miles as a design hero of mine, who also was known for his photography on a lot of the Blue Note covers outside of Francis Wolfe. This cover in particular that’s been redone by some artists in the last decade, is one that lends itself to Miles’ love for exotic cars, and as it looks like a great composition to play off of the title, there’s a bit of bias on Miles’ end, where he intentionally focused on the beauty of the car and Donald Byrd was somewhat of an after thought. This little story was found in one of the Blue Note Cover books. I can’t recall if it was 1 or 2.
At times being biased works, and in this case, created a great composition for the cover and the type. posted on 21.12.11
